e-mail me or someone else from this site and ask them to be friends.. introduce yourselfs, share stories about each other, learn more about each other, etc..
once you are comfortable making e-friends, try it out in the real world.. whether it's work, the gym, a club, or a sporting event, say hello to the person beside you and strike up a conversation. it's easier than it looks!

i have never met a stranger.......get eye contact say hi.....if they say hi back.....talk about the weather....always a good opener...then find common ground you both have and go from there.....
