well its basically the end of the semester, with finals next week and i barley found out this week that im failing my pre calc class with a 52%. i have never failed a class in my life (junior in hs) and it was a big shock to me. i still have time to bring my grade up ( i have lots of homework that i didnt do to turn in and the final) and i know it is all my fault, i cant blame anyone else but me and i should have kept on top of things but it is so hard when you are not pushed in that class. my greatest hope is that i can get a B from the homework i turn in, extra credit and the final but im doubtful of that (im not sure if i do all of those that it will be enough) very scared about what my parents, especially my dad will say if i get a c or even worse a d. what should i do and if i do get a c, will that effect my chances for a university??

:( im very sad.

yes, this has really taught me a lesson and i intend on doing much much better this second semester. im already thinking about maybe taking the first semester part in summerschool even if i get a c so i can be sure i learn what i need to know to go on to calculus next year.

*sigh* :(

Pre-calculus is an advanced class, and in most cases, you don't need to even take it in order to enroll in a university. Just the fact that you take an advanced class shows them you're ready to challenge yourself, and they like that. The grade you get will be part of your 'high school GPA' that they will look at (if you don't go to community college first), but if you have better grades from other classes, you should be fine. You'll be especially fine if you can drop it and the grade doesn't count into your GPA, but I'm not telling you to do that unless you feel you don't understand anything you do in there.

If you do your best to pass the class, and you don't, I would hope your parents would be understanding that it is indeed a difficult subject. If you wish, you might be able to retake it. After all, you're only a junior.

BUT, just do the best you can. That's all you can do. Whatever comes will come.

It will affect your chances with some universities, particularly the highly competitive ones. With others, it won't matter too much. It depends on where you're planning on applying and what major you're planning on. Obviously, it'll matter more if you're looking at engineering or math and not so much if you're looking at art or history.

I'm sorry this happened to you. I'm a little perplexed, too, as I would think your previous test grades would've given you a clue as to your standing in the class - but that's all water under the bridge at this point. All you can really do is what you're doing - get in the work that you haven't turned in, ask for and do any extra credit you can, and study your brains out for the final.

If it means anything to you, good luck. Do your best - no one can ask anything more.

it is better that you're taking Pre-Cal first. you received't be lost in Calculus yet you particular will be lost in Calculus 2 or 3. i recognize this because i'm taking Cal 2 and also you extremely go with to understand stuff from pre-cal. that is my opinion, until eventually you go with to study plenty haha then i do not imagine you should extremely go with it even though it must be better.

Ive been helping lots of people here for precalculus. I had a very hard time learning trigonometry myself. But I kept at it and went on to take three semesters of calculus in college. Do your best and never give up you don't have to be smart........

actually...don't give up. Try to connect precalculus and try to understand it. You can do it!
some colleges will look at it...some won't.
