a person who's qualified for a job the most is the person who should have that job, especially if that job is leading the country. we've all seen what happens when someone who's grossly unqualified leads us in the last several years, and i'm positive that whomever is president next will be far superior. if the person who proves to be the best candidate for the job is a woman (or maybe a black man), so be it.
if someone feels that a woman shouldnt be equal to a man because of gender, theres lots of countries out there that go for that...... most of them are constantly suicide bombed, but hey, if someone thinks that a woman is less than a man, they probably belong in a place like that.

This is an interesting question. I am a pretty liberal female, as both my husband and I each have a full time job, I have graduated from college, and I do not think my place is in the kitchen. However, I am not sure that I would vote for a female president. Why? I'm not sure. I suppose I don't think I would ever be completely happy with a president (who in any job can always do everything right!?!), and it is better to be upset with a male! At least that way I can always say "A woman would never have done that!"
In all honesty though, I would consider a female president as much as her male counterparts. But she would certainly have to have proven that she's not too emotional, yet not too cutthroat either, which would be hard to prove! Pretty much, she would have to show that she's "not too female" while proving she's not trying to be a man either. What a catch-22!
I look forward to seeing who the first woman to make it to a federal vote will be -- and seeing the result! Who knows, maybe the American people would vote her in and the electoral college would not.

I am sure the BBC is correct that many americans would not vote for a woman on principle. That just shows how ignorant they are. You Brits proved that a woman can be a powerful and effective leader with Maggie Thatcher, and I would proudly cast my vote for a female candidate for President who I thought could handle the job as well as Mrs. Thatcher

I don't believe that is correct. Most people here would vote for a woman if there is a good woman candidate. Unfortunately, it would probably be harder for a woman the first time, because it would set a precedent, and the woman would be more closely scrutinized than a male candidate. She would have more to prove. Once that ice is broken, then I think there would be no more problems.

If I was an American I certainly would. The amount of roles which are based on a persons gender are beginning to decrease, there should be no harm in having a female president.
Other nations have had female presidents with no problem - Take Iceland for example with Vigdis Finbogadóttir, quite a successful president and the worlds first female democratically elected president.

I will vote for whomever I think will do the best job leading this country, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or sex. I actually don't know if I'll vote for Hillary, I think she might be too divisive and Americans are divided enough right now as it is. I don't know that I'd vote for Condolezza Rice though either. I don't know that she has enough backbone to step away from the party line when it was needed, and sometimes it's needed. It would depend on who it was. I think it would be good to have a woman President though.

What's wrong voting for a woman, for president, women's place is not in the kitchen as far as i know women have many rights as any other man it's just a matter of what the society think is best for they're country.

No, women personalise everything and play the female victim card when it suits. It is simply extrememly difficult for men to work with them. Also, men tend to compete with each other for their attention. The Presidency is too important to take chances with, particularly with a Democrat. Sorry, but the truth hurts.
