Its an african weapon that had a string with two balls attached to each side. They would throw them at their prey and tangle them up... I think they used them in the movie Kangaroo Jack... Hmmmm...

I think the bola has 3 balls and is from South America - specifically Argentina. Not sure what the African weapon would be called.

Just curious - why an African weapon in a movie with an Australian name?

I have heard of a weapon called a bolo, that works in the way you describe, but I had the impression it was from South America.

I believe you are refering to the bolo. It was commonly used by the "Gaucho" in South America.

"Bolas" actually, have a feeling that its origin is more South American than African.
