What happens if you hit the ground in you dreams?

Question

I know everyone has had the dream where you are falling off a cliff and right before you hit the ground you wake up. But what happens if you actually hit the ground?

Your instinctive autonomic nervous system kicks in with an adrenaline rush that makes your whole body suddenly JERK and you awaken and have to go to the bathroom and your heart goes pound pound pound until the adenaline bolus subsides.

I hit the ground a fair amount now. I didn't until I was over 35. It hurts, but it doesn't kill or destroy me. I just lay there a minute then get up and keep going. Kind of like Wile E. Coyote I guess. One good thing about it is that when it happens (which isn't too often) I know it's a dream, and then I can sometimes start to control the action (lucid dreaming).

Mostly I don't fall off things, but this happens in flying dreams where I just forget how to keep flying. Although I have fallen off things before, mostly way before. Now if I start to fall, I might remember I can fly, and pull out of it.

Guess I sound pretty weird, huh....:-)

Your dream can keep going like you get up and start walking again or dream that your dead and you just start dreaming of other stuff. Or wake up with a little jump or just wake up and go back to sleep.

They say (old wives and gypsies), that you won't hit the ground because you'll be dead. Or to hit the ground is to be dead, depending on your religious beliefs.

people have always said YOU DIE. but, ni ive done it several times, and most of the time im just laying there, and i know im dead or paralyzed....
