If you mean "ignorance" I'd say it makes the lives of people who care about correct spelling just that little bit more painful, for one thing. No offence intended.
Seriously though, ignorance doesn't ruin the world but if ignorant people supposedly run the world, there is a very real risk that they'll make quite a mess (take George W. Bush as an obvious example) unless they know at least how to take good advice from people who know something.

If ignorance is truly bliss, then it doesn't. But if you believe we are not all developing mentally at the same rate, then it would make life harder for the folks who need us to be educated beyond the basic level and try to follow their message: politicians, employers and educators.

One of the biggest things ignorance causes is racism, reverse-racism, a lack of willingness to understand someone's religion if you don't practice the same religion, a lack of tolerance for anyone who is different from ourselves.
It is ignorance that leads to terrorist attacks. Ignorance that leads to wars. That's on a global level if that's what you were looking for.
