Unfortunately, I am from the great power house. That is the United States of America. I despise this country and what we supposedly stand for. I wouldn't trade my freedom for the world, but I am not proud to call myself American.

I watched "Hotel Rwanda" and it despised me. I was too young when this genocide occured to remember anything in the news about it. We are supposed to care so much about helping other countries become peaceful, but we did nothing for this African country until nearly millions of people were raped, butchered, tortured and killed. I cried. We send so many troups to Iraq and other countries that we have an interest in. Aren't we supposed to help all. No country helped. They all pulled out. I wonder what's going on in smaller countries today. I cancelled my cable television subscription because I was tired about hearing about Iraq. Who says are way is the best way.

I'm from The United States of America. I have no visited other countries to compare. So there are probably a lot of things I like that I don't realize I enjoy. However, I do like the fact that we have the right to vote and that most movies and music is based here. We also have a large range of enviroments. They range from nearly tropical (Hawaii, Florida), artic (Alaska), strongly mountianous (Utah, Colorado), mildly mountianous (Virgina, Maine), plains (Texas, Kansas), beautiful sandy beaches (South Carolina, Georgia), and rocky beaches, (Maine, Delaware). We also have many landmarks (Grande Canyon, Mt. Rushmore). America has so much of a variety when it comes to cultures. I guess I can truely say I like the United States of America. (But don't get me started on the politics!)

I'm from America(and not afraid to say it; you don't like it?:p!)anyway, What I like about my country is that it's not illegal to dissent here; even in the post-Communist world there are still some governments which will "disappear" you for dissension. A lot of anti-Bush people will disagree with me, but I don't like either of the mainstream parties, and I still believe this.

We're all living in ameeerrrica
ameerrica
it's wunderbar

Aside from the irritating and horrendously biased media circus (on all sides). The flawed 2-party system, the gradual loss of free speech, persisting racism, and the depressing education system.

It's fine,
ALMOST something taken for granted. . .in spite of all the BS.
but that could be because I'm a lucky f**ky trust fund baby (using it for college).
I wonder what it's like for those below the poverty line.

The US of A, I like our constitution and bill of rights our history is colorful and we are having growing pains with each passing president. It was quite telling for me when Pres. Ford died and I was faced with my selfish reasons for not liking him as a Pres. When I compare him to others it wasn't even a close race. I only wish I could be around in 200 years to see what new faults our government has fallen into and to see our brave new world anew.

Born and raised in Northern California, United States. Despite all the problems everyone trumpets about, I love the United States of America.

It has a wonderfully diverse culture, a wealth of opportunitieis for education and progress, freedom to pursue one's dreams, safety to bring up a family, opportunities to enjoy wonderful things in life (materially and otherwise), and most importantly, freedom to worship my God without fear of direct, violent persecution.

Great question. Best to you.

The US and unfortunately I can't say I'm proud of much lately. Not to say that I don't like or appreciate being an American, I just feel sad the way in which we try and use our wealth, power and influence these days.
