Can that be safe for me, she told me she was giving me the lowest dose and only to take half a pill if I needed it. Has any other pregnant women taken Ambien before?

It's 'pregnancy category B,' which is -- well, quite good, really. Even my asthma inhaler isn't considered that safe.

Google "ambien pregnancy" or similar; you'll get "Ambien is in the FDA pregnancy category B. This means that it is unlikely to harm an unborn baby."

Nothing is really risk-free, but the risk there is so low I wouldn't, er, lose sleep over it. Sleep deprivation isn't healthy.

Well I hate to take anything while pregnant.. just me. I know I would not take it. Though during morning sickness we could take 1/2 a sleeping pill (unisome) and b6 vitamin. Ask if you can take a unisome, only cause it seems less rarsh than Ambien. I have taking Ambien before and know it can knock you out quick. Look up the drug facts and see what it says about taking while pregnant and see if there any complications. I would look into more. Then again I am 27 wks prego and a complete worrier.. :)
Good luck and Congrats on your little one!

Even though your doctor may have prescribed you the Ambien, there is still tons of things that they don't know about how these drugs affect the health of your baby. I took Paxil during my last pregnancy and my son passed away at six weeks of age from SIDS. The coroner stated that woman who take anti-depressants and sleep aids during pregnancy increase their risk for losing a child to SIDS. Besides, you are 35 weeks pregnant! You are not going to get excellent sleep. Just try to rest periodically throughout the day.

At 36 weeks they gave it to me. My doc said I needed my rest to prepare for labor. I wouldn't worry too much. Good luck and I hope you get some much needed sleep.
