I have a john deere and have had it for 7 years. With two acres getting mowed once a week I never have problems if I keep up the maintenence on it. Very worth the extra money to buy a good name brand. However the John Deere tractors at Lowes and home depot are not commercial grade but they have the same cost as the commercial grade. Go to a John Deere dealer and buy a real one straight from the source not through a middle man

Had my John Deere for 9 years. Never a problem, change oil and filter once a year. Did replace tensioner spring on deck, less than 5 bucks and took 2 minutes. Mine has a Kawasaki engine Used for large lot mowing and pulling trailer full of sand or firewood. Dad has a 3 year old craftsman, already having deck issues.
