it comes with simple instructions, it's not hard. you have to have room for it or remove an existing CD drive to make room.
It's only a few screws and a couple of wiring harnesses.

just open your computer cover and explore.. thats how i learned about computers. ok. you need to have space to put the dvd writer or take out an existing cd driver. you stick it in the empty slots and there should be holes and you connect the wires from the motherboard to the back of the writer. if there was any cds that came with the writer, i recomend installing the writer using the cd. i did it no problem without any help and im 12. i think you could do it too.

Typical PC setup: DVD writer uses IDE interface like a hard disk, there are total 4 slots in PC logic for a combination of hard disk, CD/DVD/writer, even tape. named Primary Master, Primary Slave, Secondary Master, Secondary Slave.
Pri Mas typically taken up already by the hard drive that first came with the computer, 3 others, if they are all taken up it complicates things, Primary cable holds connection to 2 slots, Secondary cable holds for other 2, a burner usually conveniently configured as either Pri/Sec Slave drive, Mas/Slave are pin configurable at the back side. Hook the cable to the burner drive; but make sure there are no overlapping Pri/Sec Mas/Slave configuration by others also in the computer, hook up power and you are done, you can safely ignore the Audio connector.

If you are installing the DVD along with your CD drive you will need to look for the jumper settings on the DVD drive - set it to slave.
There should not be any drivers to load - windows will recognize the new drive on start up and automatically install the drivers.
