Billy Mills - USA 1960 games Tokyo - He had to overcome racism just to Run. The Army let him train for the Olympic trials and the games. If you were not expected to win a medal or you were not one of the best in your event your track shoes and equipment were not given to you already paid for. Jesse Owens- Berlin Olympics- He overcame many obstacles. Some of them were Racism( mainly having to be African American in WW2 Germany. He had to run and compete in front of Hitler.
1980 US Hockey Team- college age kids beet the Might USSR in hockey and won the gold medal. No won thought that the US hockey team would do this.
