Is it a family friendly place? Do you know anymore fun places to go and things to do in that area? Near Corpus Christi? We don't mind driving a couple hours to get there.

We visited Corpus Christi a few years ago and it was not friendly!
We did enjoy our tour of the Texas State Aquarium, and the battleship, The Lexington.
But the people are not that friendly and the area was not much fun for us.

If you want a family place, I would stay clear of South Padre during the month of March during Spring Break, otherwise it's pretty family friendly

Port Aransas is alright as an alternative north of South Padre along the coast about 2 hours

I live half way between Galveston & Houston but never been to "Tent City" but I'd rather spring for a motel.

It is family friendly. There is the beach and plenty of restaurants from plain to fancy. There are glass bottom boat rides and rides to see the dolphins.
