I feel so sorry for this child. She seems to be no more than 2 months old. She is in good health. Nothing wrong with her but i don't want to have to turn her in. I know someone will finally be asking things but what do i do? My heart is so torn..

You need to do the right thing and turn the baby over to the proper authorities or complications may come up sooner or later. Best of luck.

If this is for real! You have to call the police and have the baby brought to a hospital and get checked out. See if they can locate the biological parents and find out why the child was abandoned. Also if you do not report this.. you can be charged with kidnapping regardless where you found the child. That is a serious charge and would ruin your life. It will be hard to do.. but you can always ask to foster the child til the parents are found and if they legally give up the child then you can opt to adopt it. But till then you have to the responsible thing and call the police and have the child checked out. There could be something medically wrong with this child and God forbid if something happens to it while in your care. I pray that you do the right thing and good luck.

personally if a 2 month old was left on my doorstep my first stop wouldn't be Yahoo! Answers...Second unless you are a doctor how would you know if she is in good health and nothing is wrong w/ her...third most states have the no questions asked law where a mother can bring there baby to a police station, fire station, hospital and just drop the baby off, why would they pick your house. So I do not believe what you are asking and in the event that what you are saying is true you should do whats right for the baby and hand her over to the proper athourities.

Why are you assuming the birth parents left the child at your house? Take the baby to an ER!! It could have been stolen from her family! There could be an Amber Alert for this infant! Turn her in? This isn't a stray cat, it's a baby.

Yahoo can get involved and find out WHO you are and WHERE you are very easily, so do the right thing. Take the baby to a hospital or a Fire Station!! If you really are interested in becoming her mother, then apply to adopt her through the proper channels!!

Take that child to a hospital now.

You have got to be kidding!!!!!
You have to protect your self and the baby. If you are affiliated with a church, contact your pastor, If not any church will help you. If you want to keep the child, it is possible that you can foster until something else can be worked out. Most states have more children in the system than they have homes for any way they welcome people who are willing to foster. Don't take the risk of getting into a situation where you could end up in jail (by not contacting the authorities). what would happen to the baby then?

Yes, to all you nay sayers this really does happen. I actually worked two cases at Juvenille Court where this was the case. I would ask you to call your local police department. You have no idea what you are getting yourself into.

When people do this they are more than likely strung out on crack. This was the case with both of my cases. You will be inviting more than a baby into your home if you don't call the police. The last thing you want is someone high on crack banging on your door at 3 am asking where her baby is. Also, both my cases had felony assaults in their criminal background amongst other things.

Call the authorities. Have you watched the news lately. People abduct children all the time. someone may be looking for their lost or stolen child. And if the parents themselves left her there, surely her relatives will want to take care of her. Dont take it upon yourself to raise this child. You may get into trouble for it later by the family or the police. You may get sued from the family for not returning her safely. Good luck.

You really need to call Social Services or the police. If you want to keep the baby, Social Services can help you get legal custody or even adopt the baby but you need to report it. What if the mom or dad shows up, do you give the baby back? If you don't, they can say you kidnapped her. Call, right away. The baby DOES need you, she needs you to call and report it.

You need to call the police. I know it will be hard, but its what has to be done so the childs parents can be charged with abandonment. If you want to keep the baby, you need to appeal to the court system. You dont want the parents to turn around and charge you with kidnapping.

Good luck!

If it were me, I would contact the local authorities but offer to keep the child pending their investigation, just to be safe that the baby was not abducted etc. After doing that, I would care for the baby as it were my own. I am just remembering the story of Moses. God has a plan for the little one. It is no coincidence that your doorstep was chosen. Take it as a blessing.
