He played his last game in 1999. But, he didn't officially retire until 2000. He retired with the Dallas Cowboys.

He officially retired in July of 2000, but he played his last game in 1999. In the fourth game of that season, against the Eagles, he hit his head hard after being tackled. He had a herniated disc, and was temporarily paralyzed. He got healthy again, but didn't want to take the risk of playing again.

I believe he retired from Dallas-
He is still waiting to get a call to be in the Hall.
