We really don't like Ted. Do you think people would leap to Ted as a nick if his birth certificate says Theo and not Theodore? And would they turn Edmund into Ed inevitably?

I actually like the names in the order that you listed them:
Theo Arthur Bishop
Ian Arthur Bishop
Edmund Arthur Bishop
If the child's name is Edmund, Ed will definitely be used as a nickname and if the child's name is Theodore, Ted will be used. I think if the child's name is Theo, he'll be called Theo. Thats what I would call him anyway. Good Luck!
