My daughter had a nightmare, I looked at the clock as I got out of bed and it read 3:10am. I comforted her for about 3 or 4 minutes. I went back to my room and the clock read 4:15am.
I could swear I did not fall asleep! I was sitting on the edge of her bed.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Any explanations?

It was a digital clock.
I suppose I could have misread it... its as a good an explanation as any.

It's in the mind. Sometimes when you're stressed or you're thinking of stuff that annoy or entertain you, you lose track of time. That's a simple explanation, right?

Well, in my opinion, when you first got up out of bed, you were likely still half-asleep, meaning that your mind might not have completely grasped what it was looking at when you looked at the clock. In other words, it was probably 4:10 when you got up, but your mind misread it because you weren't fully awake. After sitting up for five minutes, you were more alert and were able to read the clock properly.

You also didn't mention if it was a digital clockface or analog. If you had to read the hands, then it's all the more likely that you'd have made a mistake when you weren't fully awake yet.

Yes, when you looked at the clock you just woke up and you were half asleep. The clock actually read 4:10!

Hours seem like minutes all the time....about 60 minutes. HA

No seriously, my experience was the opposite of yours. I have had times during the night when I look at the clock and it seems like I have been sleeping for many hours and it has only been 15 minutes.

I'm afraid I can't explain your event, but I do suffer the reverse effect, when a few minutes seems like an hour.

I mostly experience this in the dentist's chair!

it could be a extreme case of chronokinesis which is the ability to control your perception of time. this probably was a sudden burst that happens once in a long time.

Yep. Endorphines.

I've also had minutes that felt like hours.
