x + y + 2z = 5
x + 2y = z = 8
2x + 3y - z = 1

recheck the equations
you have 2 equal signs in the second equation.

if that typo = z is supposed to be +z or -z

y = 19
z = 8

you have 3 equations and 3 unknowns... use systems of equations or gauss-jordan
