communication (be able to relay plays and direct teammates during a game)

controlling the tempo of your offense (when to turn it up when to run a controlled set)

knowing the set plays and running plays correctly (as the coach calls them out)

ball handling (to be able to dribble through pressure)

court vision (be aware of where everyone is on the floor so you can see openings/mismatches)

defense (you'll likely be covering the opposing team's point guard and will try to stop them getting set into their offense).

Running the team, calling the plays and controlling tempo, also the point guard must be a good free throw shooter as he has the ball most of the time.

point guards should be passing the ball and setting up the plays. Shooting should be secondary to that.
Good ball handling skills are necessary for fast breaks and drives to the basket. Therefore, you should also be a good free throw shooter.
Don't forget about your defensive skills.
