It's scripted reality. It's all about ratings. This 'bush baby' is already cashing in on his 15 minutes of fame for being abused by Simon. So how abused was he, really? Personally I think all three of these 'judges' are jaded and need to be replaced. Simon wouldn't skip a beat. The other two would fade into obscurity.

Yes, it's a singing contest - not a contest of who can call people the most imaginative names based on their looks. For that we have Mel Gibson and Michael Richards. I believe this was the guy that has autism as well. Nice going Simon - a true human being. However, it is bringing the ratings up on Idol this year so aren't we being the hypocrits for watching it?

He called him a Bush Baby and yes he did go to far. I know that the show is known for being like that, but you could clearly tell how hurt the guy was in his eyes. The man had bug eyes and apparently has a form of syndrome, to pick at his appearance in that manner was wrong I do beleive.

William Hung was just on Larry King. He has made a million dollars so far with his tours and albums. Pretty good for being a fool in the auditions. Even a loser can make it with the exposure. The guy with the headband that was escorted out was also on Larry King. He will also make a fortune making the rounds.

YES! ABSOLUTELY!
I LOVE A I and watch every season! It IS a GREAT show!
But sometimes, Simon can be down right rude. He has every right to say what he wants about the contestant's voice/singing. That's his job, that's why he's there!
But when he makes comments about a person's looks (well, something that they cannot help/born with) then that is outlandishly RUDE, INSENSITIVE and TOTALLY UN-CALLED FOR!\
I could say a LOT more, but I'll leave it at this!
Great question . . . Have a good night! : )

I think Simon's comments help develop the individuals competing to be the next American Idol. I wouldn't say that he went too far because he was speaking the truth. Would you want to go to a concert and watch monkeys on stage singing?

No I personally don't think he went to far. Everyone knows Simon is a very blunt and sometimes overly honest. This was one of those overly honest moments. We all know we were thinking the same thing, but most of us just don't have the balls to say it to someone's face. All Simon did was tell that guy what everyone else is thinking when they look at him. Come on, he was kinda funny looking.

It wasnt at all nice, but that is why Simpn is on there...come on fess up who would seriously watch if he was not on. I know last night when he was missing in the beginning, I was bored and I never REALLY realized how much I relied on him for entertainment until he was missing.
And anyone who goes in front of Simon KNOWS with out a doubt that they are possibly going to be ridiculed, laughed at and possibly drug thru the mud. And as unfortunate as it is, THAT is what makes good TV. (And Im a good Christian women who is VERY picky about what my children watch on TV, but I still know ashamedly what society wants on TV)

not at all. I think that if the contestants can't take a little critisism or joking, they will never make it as a professional singer. I agree wholly with Simon. And it isn't about being nice, they are looking for talent, it isn't a charity.

Yes he did. Not everyone is born with a perfect body and chisled looks. It is rude and insulting for him to behave like that and I think he crossed the line with that remark. I was mad for the guy he said it to. Is it right to make fun of someone born with no arms? No. Just because the almighty Simon said it does not make it okay. One of these days, if Simon keeps up remarks like that, his body guards may be distracted and he may get hit outside in the head with a brick.
