the library I go to has different sections. One is specially for the teens that want to visit in the safety of our public library. They can't yell but they can visit and if the teens are in the wrong section of the library for this the staff comes and directs them to the correct section. My library is located right across from a Jr. High school so it is nice they are so accomodating.

They should find somewhere else to make their noise. The library workers are not doing their jobs. People come to the library for studying, reading, and other fairly quiet activities. It should not be an environment for noisemaking. If I did that in a store I would be asked to leave by staff who probably make less than the hired personnel at the library. I would write a petition to the city to turn over the library staff if they do not work to create the type of environment that tax-paying public expect of a library. You wouldn't want to go to a grocery store and find they sell only light bulbs.

I am a college students and sometimes I go to my local library, but I only go a certain times like mid morning to early afternoons before the kids get there. If i go after 3 o'clock, I will have to wait like a hours just to use it for 5 to 10 mins.

It is irritating, but you're right... at least their in a library. Maybe a comment to the library staff... or a reminder posted in the computer area.

Teenagers are rowdy no matter where they are. I say, enjoy it while you can, because once your 30 with a kid or two...married...and playing house keeper and bill payer...life is hard and you remember the loud times at the library.

Being one, I think that it's something that has to grow on you. This is the way of some teenagers. The latest gossip, drama, etc. It's part of the teen 'lifestyle'. Just think of their repetitive talking as more of, a well... background noise.

You know, I'm only 11, and I understand how you feel. I'm not one of those "rowdy" types, so I think you are right. It of course depends what library you go to, but it's best to go to another corner to the library and enjoy it. It's useless arguing with them.

You're allowed to be bothered, but you can't stop them.
I mean, I go to tons of places and want to punch kids my age and throw things at them, but there's no stopping it.
They just enjoy talking.
