Why do Republicans think we can win? So far it looks like another Vietnam. I don't think we CAN win. The Midterms are a referendum on Mr Bush and his war. Most Americans think this war is a badly executed fiasco that can't get better.

Define win please? A win was declared when U.S. troops reached Baghdad, wasn't that enough? We took Saddam out of the picture, wasn't that considered a win? We have assisted in a free election for a new Iraq government, isn't that a win? There is no more to win, there is only a peace keeping effort and that has been a disaster to date. Sending more troops is a repeat of an ineffective move last year. Why can't we take a new track and ask for advice and assistance from other nations? We need a new method, brute force hasn't done the job and isn't likely to. We need our troops home but completely abandoning the chaos we created isn't the best way to accomplish that. I know I don't have the knowledge or the skills to find the right answer and unfortunately, I don't think President Bush does either.

you're able to in all probability take a seem at what precisely you propose via win and lose. i'm no longer a Democrat, yet i'm liberal. A victory for me in Iraq could be for no longer one greater guy or woman to die over there, no count who they are or the place they are from. i've got self assurance that if the Democrats might desire to come to a decision on a definitive platform, it may incorporate some thing comparable. A victory for the administration in skill is an airy purpose referred to as "freedom." they do no longer care how many lives it takes, they have the desire to make a puppet pseudo democracy interior the middle east. This purpose has failed many situations in the time of historic past and the repurcussions of usa' interference with different international locations are nevertheless inflicting severe issues immediately. A George W. Bush victory in Iraq could only be one greater straw on the back of terrorist agencies international. it extremely is a real shame while wanting people to stay could be construed as a loss.

Defense officials, generals and soldiers have all said that the troop surge is a BAD idea. Bush says he'll listen to his generals but when they disagree with him, he fires them.
To those who say the Democrats don't have a plan, it's Bush that doesn't have a plan. We're going to win by put 20,000 more troops in harm's way? If you're going to add troops do it right, send in 300,000, which is what we should have started with in the first place. Bush/Cheney have tried to do this war on the cheap -- from not sending enough people in and not giving them the supplies they need. That's how we got into this mess.
After 9/11, the whole world was on our side and if Bush had used the U.N. we would have gotten serious support from more countries making appropriate troop strength possible. But no, this administration had to thumb it's nose at the U.N. and go in with a significantly smaller coalition.
I believe that most Democrats favor the only sane plan proposed -- the Iraq Study Group Report. This plan was put together by knowledgeable military experts from BOTH parties.

Democrats love this country as much as anyone else!
No one who calls themselves American wants the USA to lose in Iraq!
The fact of the matter is we CAN NOT win in Iraq militarily!
It is going to require diplomacy with the other countries of the Middle East and the Muslim religious leaders!
Look at how long Israel has been having military problems with extremists!
Do we really want American soldiers over in Iraq for decades?
Those of you who keep spouting hate against any political affiliation that isn't yours are helping the terrorism!
STOP IT!!!
YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!
How can you really expect anything to be accomplished when reason and debate aren't done intelligently and calmly!!
I hope the representatives can contain there composure better than most on here!
What a bunch of childish brats! What........are you 6 yrs. old?
The whole world is watching!
What the hell's wrong with you!
Show some pride People!!!

When Democrats lost the first election, they were so upset
they said they would be against everything that George Bush
was for. They've stuck to their word (this time) and they voted
against tax cuts, they voted against all Bush's nominees for
the Supreme Court, they blamed Bush for Katrina (and every-
thing else) plus they have helped the enemy by being against
our own president and his sending troops to Iraq to help those
poor mistreated citizens and to try and stop terrorism from
shifting to the United States. It was their policy to begin with.
If Bush had done nothing after 9/11, then they would have said
he was a do-nothing president and been against him in that
way. Bush couldn't win therefore with his own citizens against
him plus the Media pounding him day and night on radio and tv.
That's why I think they want America to lose in Iraq. They have
a terrible hatred for George Bush, period.

They are thinking about politics instead of what is best for the Country. If Bush is for something = Democrats against it. So even if it is the most serious business for America they are playing politics WHILE Bush is working on doing what is best for America.

A lot of Americans has grown tired of this four year war, understandably so, and now wants to see change, the problem is clear and accurate, "the Democrats have offered more criticism than solutions to the crisis", all the lip service and no plan, doesn't make me feel better. I am glad to see a man determined to protect this country, a retreat now will only, makes us Republicans relive all the cut and run policy's of Democrats. That's some scary stuff, man!

Because when the U.S. loses Democrats win. They dislike the U.S. and they hate Bush and would see anything happen just to make them look good. even if it was at the expense of the nation.
