I have been all in all probably sick for 5-6 months last year due to nervous breakdown and burnout as I had to do the job for 3 people. Today, without any warning I received no sick pay. At least I would have thought they would send a letter saying, that they are stopping the payment. I have sick notes and everything. My employer is the NHS and I am a Unison member and will contact the representative later, but need some advice now. I can't pay rent, bills, food, nothing, on top of being ill and having to go to hospital for an operation on my ovaries. I am in a total state as I am about to loose my rented flat, etc.
Can someone please give me an advice?

From what I can gather your employer has put you into a position where you were under too much stress and caused your ultimate illness. I propose the following:
Go to the Job centre put in an application for Urgent income support
Go to your council and apply for Rental support/ and council tax relieve - backdate this to the time that you have stopped working (do mention what your sick leave salary is).
Go to your UNISON representative and put a claim against the NHS for Undue stress and cause of Nervous breakdown and subsequent illness - your case should revolve around not having a choice but to do the job given or your would have been made to feel incompetent - that would then be constructive dismissal
Go to CAB and ask URGENT advise on how to stave off creditors - including your landlord! The Council has a duty to keep you housed - CAB knows the procedures. Get hold of your lenders / banks/ energy suppliers and explain the situation - most will agree to allow you to pay in smaller amounts - BUT talk to them or you will also get a black mark against you in terms of credit history.
Also understand that your Employer has to pay you SSP of £70.05/week as long as you are sick and covered by sick notes etc - the link below is to the government site + also gives you a good overview of stress related illness etc and rights.

P>S: Good luck with your Ovary op - been there and now I am ok!

I suppose that you did register for incapacity benefit, and whilst doing that spoke to the council about what help you can get. I also suppose that you have had a chat with the CAB.
Lookit, you only worked for the NHS, there is NO obligation in the UK for sick pay, you were lucky, you have now the opportunity to do all the above.
Your rent will be paid by the social as will most or part of your council tax, etc.
You can walk I presume and also do something workwise mundane.
You will have to sue your ex employer and get a less intensive job eventually.

If you have been withn your employer 2 years then you will get 2 months full pay and then 2 months half pay, then nothing at all.

I had been with my employer nearly 2 years when I was off sick for just under 7 months and I got the above. I was working for a Local Authority at the time.

Yes they can close your account without warning you. If your account is overdrawn for more than 30 days it will get closed out. Usually it closes automatically and not at the disgretion of the person you talked to at the bank. The are not legally obligated to send you a warning letter, only a letter after the fact stating that the account has been closed. If it was overdrawn more than $100 most banks will send it to chexsystems so now you have to pay off chexsystems.

Please ask the policy of your employer for sick leaves extending to 6 months. Approach your employer now and ask why. Be ready with your papers and everything. From there, you will know what to do next...

Good luck.
