I'm looking for actual answers here- like an actual, honest-to-god scientific reason or an educated guess. I think it's a waste of time to focus at all on anyone just because they've got the media's spotlight. Just because someone is a pop musician or an actor and something happens to them doesn't mean I care. I don't pay attention to celebrity gossip at all but sometimes I catch snippets of VH1 or MTV, and I wonder. WHY do we admire the famous? Do we long for their power, money, their attractiveness? Is it to find a mate (ha) or some other simply human reason hardwired to our genes from thousands of years ago?I don't understand. Please help me out here.

Because the celebrities glitter like gold among the mass of sand.
Man's physical eyes can only see things glittering on the outside. More mature people who learn to use the spiritual vision can see thousands of suns in each grain of sand.
You are right, the worth of man is not the glittering on the outside, but the brightness of the inner self.

It's human nature to be curious. Years ago, Liberace, Frankie Avalon, and the original Osbournes were today's Donald Trump, Tom Cruise, and Ozzy. Time has come and gone but our curiosity with the famous, rich, and eccentric has stayed. The world is filled with dreamers and we like to see how the 'famous' people live the life we can only dream about. I think it's interesting how people are more interested in Brad Pitt than Bill Gates. I'm not sure why fame is more interesting than hearing about how a computer genius created billions of dollars by ingenuity.

No, they actually do not. they are someone like us and can want to wish to have privateness of their sensible we do notwithstanding the media needs some masala information and often there are 1/2 an hour's shows on information channels showcasing the present affair in Bollywood. that is the decrease!!!!!!!!! Plus even with in the adventure that they exhibit their anger, that's stuck on digicam and the media then insults that superstar for that type of habit.

I would say because people are fascinated with the rich. With the life of the rich. People want to be famous. People want to be them-the celebrities. But its not that grand. Look at the celebrities that the world worships. Even with their millions and billions, those jokers have more problems than i do. Most suffer from drug addiction-multiple divorces, suicidal thoughts. I wouldnt want to trade places with most of them.

I'm with you! Wish there was someway to get their headline/articals off my computer even though I don't have to click into it, the space could be better used.

Evidently some people do not have a life of their own and like to live vicariously. Sad

This answer is honest to God, but whether you are ready to hear it remains to be seen :-)

We all serve a god- either the One True God, or a false idol. We become like what we serve, what we worship. We take on their characteristics, we become like them. So, if we serve God, we become more loving, more generous, more forgiving, more loving, because God is.

If we serve a false idol, we become like that idol- if it is a statue, we become like that statue, deaf, dumb, lifeless. If, as a society, we worship celebrity's, God help us, we will become like them. And that is truly tragic- I mean, have you actually listened to the drivel that spews from their mouths?

We are becoming more shallow, greedy, backstabbing, immoral, nasty and mean as a society because the idols that we have set up to worship are like that, and as a natural consequence we as a society become more like them. The only way to rescue society from this muddy pit of celebrity worship is by the people of God repenting of their sins and idolatry and greed, and returning to worshiping only Jesus Christ. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.

Celeb watchers have boring lives so they feel like they live through famous people. Personally, I don't care that so-in-so is doing that-ever. They don't matter. I sure don't look up to all the twits in Hollyweird.
