I would prefer it if stricter controls were put on Congress regarding its spending. As it is Congress has stolen money from every program possible including SS and the USPS.
Privatizing the USPS would be a foolish mistake as our postal rates are the cheapest in the world. Besides the USPS has to compete with all the other delivery companies and the competition helps keep prices down.
As far as medicare goes when private industry comes up with a better program medicare will cease to exist, until then medicare needs to be kept as is.

No. I used to work for the Postal Service; the way that was run it would be broke within a year if it went private. There's a lot of waste and mismanagement. Missourid privatize the license bureaus (at least the offices) and they are concerned about one thing: money. They are a virtual monopoly which provide little service (three hours to renew a license plate, it used to take only a few minutes!). Turn Social Security and Medicare over to that and you'll have the same kind of service. Monopolies don't work; at least if they are government agencies there is some sort of accountability, at least to the lawmakers.

Sure. Generally speaking, private destroys the public sector when it comes to efficiency, hands down. As long as it is regulated, let the private hands control the management of the programs. The public sector has no incentive and burns through taxpayer money at an overwhelming pace, while providing poorer service.

social security? like getting banks to do it?
the only problem I have with it... would be what happens if someone puts in a low bid, gets the bid... and royally screws it up...
and I can't imagine Medicare even being able to work in a privatized system... with price controls and things that I believe it has...

if all of those governmental agencies were privatized they would work more efficently and use less money. Social security must be privitized if it is going to continue to exist.
