Whales use sound for communication and echolocation. Humpbacks are the only whales known to sing. Humpback whales sing the most during mating season. They sing long complicated songs with repeating patterns, these songs last a few minutes to more than half an hour and can be heard up to 100 miles away.

I dont know about how they communicate with other sea animals but in most cases the whales communicate among them either with the help of ultrasounds or by flapping their tails in the water. The communication technique varies from species to species.

They don't communicate with other sea animals...just other members of their species. Ever hear of the term, "whale song"? That's how they communicate...basically sonic frequencies that travel well in water.
