Has anyone every read the book "The Giver" by Lois Lowry??

Question

If you have can you please take a lil bit of your time and tell me what the whole book is about? Cause I like REALLY need 2 know! So briefy like say the begginng, middle, end important parts, and things inbetween. thank you soooo much!!! :D

Well in the 8th grade and i just did this book so i can help you a bit or two. Its about a kid Jonas who lives in a utopia society. there are strict rules governing it and everyone sees in black and white and has no feelings. they have no religion and don't know about the past full of wars, families, love, Christmas or Eid(a Muslim holiday) except one guy who is called the receiver of memory and helps the community out when they are in need. he has all the memories of the world and has to pass them to Jonas and he is scared. People also get released when they are not fit or too old. Later Jonas found out recieved meant to be killed but since anyone didnt have feelings they didnt know the danger of it. In the end he runs away from the community with a 1 year old called gabe and then hears music.

I think that personally you should read the book for yourself, but anyhow, a breif summary, is that Jonas lives in a world of sameness where everything is the same and its horrible, and their is no one that is different and a baby named Gabriel is born and they want to basically kill him, if I remember correctly and Jonas puts a stop to it, by kidnapping the baby, but before this Jonas is given an assignment like a job that people choose for him based on what he likes etc and hes gets the job of the reciever and he learns about everything before sameness, and he and Gabriel run away and their are two sequels to it.

well i just read this ...(im in 7th grade) and it was about a kid named jonas living in a world of sameness and no feeling or choises.and in the comunity you cant see color.and the comuinty has kids doing jobs called assignmeants and jonas gets the reciver of memory and he gets the ability to see beyond and him and the giver are the only people in the community to see color.and jonas finds out that his dad kills people (releases).

i really think you should read this book.its really really great
