My theory is that there was a change in the gravitational pull on earth , maybe caused by a collision or some other reason.
This would obviously effect the abilty of these massive beasts like the terrasaur a large ungainly creature being abe to fly, and also effect the size of the land dwelling creatures. If there was a change this would surely kill all the dinosaurs off, as this would cause them all to die of exhausion or lack of food , or not being able to physicaly fly or hunt for food.
I just cant imagine how these prehistoric beast could live in todays environment. Unless they had a low center of gravity like the crocodile.

I have never heared a mention of this on any TV programmes or books.

Can anyone tell me if there is a reason my theory could not be true

serious answers please.

The gravity of the earth wasn't affected too much but the atmospherics and immediate impact zone, would have a blast like a giant nuclear blast, even terrasaurs would either be charred to a crisp where they stood or fly through the air while cooking in a 800 degree atmosphere. Basically a very strong blast wave doesn't knock you around, it does something called "degloving" which isnt' even pretty to describe.

The gravity of the earth hasn't appreciably changed much, it has slightly increased but thats just because in 65million years there is now a very small amount of more stuff on the Earth from (comets, meteors and space-dust). That's why your theory doesn't work.

Its kinda like this , there's an old George Carlin joke regarding the comment of someone saying "It's the end of the world if some comet or asteroid hits the planet...."

As Mr. Carlin rather correctly points, out - Don't worry the planet will be fine, it will still go around in it's orbit....unles the meteor or comet is the size of another planet, the Earth will be fine...The people are f*cked....but the planet will be just fine.

I could explain at length what would probably happened to the dinosaurs (the best guess/thinking at the moment is that they were hit by at least one large asteroid about 65million years ago) there is strong geological evidence to suggest that very regularly the Earth is hit by a comet or asteroid.

WE in fact are in danger of being hit by an asteroid in the near future called Apophis, but that wouldn't effect the gravity too much.

I've put some external links to youtube showing what some impacts would look like.

Some are modern "make-believe" and also one or two Dino-based impact simulations.

Gravitation did play a part. The gravitational tug on the earth from the moon and sun, eventually caused the Pangaea to break up. Resulting in less room and many more places for the dinosaurs to become trapped! Because dinosaurs are stupid, they could not navigate there way out. In short -they starved to death. Granted there are other factors that contributed to there end. However, I believe this to be the main reason. Evidence confirms that dinosaurs were in decline long before the Yucatan Penninsula crater event. Or a gamma ray burst etc. etc...

The only way that could happen would be for the earth to magically grow in mass by near 25%. Otherwise, the difference would be so small that it would make no difference.

There is no geological evidence that this happened. Meteors are still the best chance, because there have been huge craters found all over the world. They have just been eroded to the point that they are barely visible.

They could have died in a comet colliding with the earth. It would have caused a nuclear winter, which would have destroyed all plantation and droped the tempreture to levels below freezing, and being the cold blooded animals that they were, the dinosours died off.

Dinosaurs died out for the same reason that animals like the sabre toothed tiger and mammoth died out. Competition for space to live and being hunted by man - for example.

There are many accounts of dinosaurs (aka dragons) being hunted by 'heroes' of old. For example St George, Beowolf, etc.

There is much evidence that dinosaurs have lived recently - very many depictions on pottery etc, and very many accounts.
The romans even made a mosaic of dinosaurs - presumably having seen them!

Fossil dinosaur bones have been found containing blood cells - hardly 65 millions years old.

They didn't die. They evolved. If you think about life dying out at the time of the dinosaurs then we would all have to evolve from scratch again which would take way too long. If you look at the dinosaurs you will find that they look like big versions of some of the animals we have today. The mammoth is the easiest example. If all the mammoth died out where did the elephant come from? You can't seriously tell me that it happened to evolve to look pretty much like a small mammoth with no fur from scratch within a short period of time.

consider this. all life did not disappear. there are still creatures on the planet that lived contemporary to dinos. the roach and the sturgeon come to mind. some sharks. why were they unaffected.

i'll guarantee you are right to some degree. most could not live in today's environment. the vegetation has changed radically.

Earth's gravity has been increased from past up to now and it's increasing yet. Increasing of gravity affects on animates of earth. You'll understand the relation between increase of earth's gravity and animates evolution, and affects of increasing of earth's gravity on blood circulation system. You'll know how animals overcome with increasing of earth's gravity by developing more of blood circulation system and can enlarge their bodies. You'll realize to the relation between extinction of dinosaurs and increasing of earth's gravity in this book too and will read a summary of fact of increasing of earth's gravity.
