Hey, i have WAY to many icons on my system trey... i want all of the programs open, but i dont want them to clutter up my desktop. is there a way to hide them from ther trey, so that i can not see them, but yet have them still running??? i would like this to automaticly happen every time i start windows... tx!!!

Yes, many of them, if you search thru their tools and options menu, will have ways to remove them from the tray without turning them off. They're all different, so sometimes you really have to search. If you cannot find it, go to that company's website and ask there, either in tech support or a forum if it exists. Good luck.

Very easy.
Click Start button in the Task bar.
Click Run.
Type "msconfig" in the blank space.
Click OK.
System Configuration Utility Dialogue Box appears.
Click on the "Startup" tab.
Under "Startup Item" tick off unwanted programs.
Click on "Apply".
Click on OK.
Restart computer.
Presto!
All unwanted items have disappeared from the System Tray.
The ticked off programmes can be still run by clicking on the Shortcut etc.

HEY! VERY EASY I WILL SAY THE WAY IN WHICH U WILL NOT SEE THE SYSTEMS TRAY AT ALL.

go to start->run->gpedit.msc->user configuration->administrative templates->start menu and taskbar->turn off notification area clean up.

just go there and click "enable" cllick apply and ok. u may need to restart and open windows.

suprise!!!!!!! u will not see the systems tray at all!!!

note: provided ur the administrater of the pc and ur using windows xp profesional.

just right click on the system tray, click properties, in the notification area click customize, and just change the behavior, choose always hide, and that's it, you can still access them when you click on the little arrow.
