The Marx Brothers' 2nd - 6th films are brilliant - "Animal Crackers", "Monkey Business", "Horse Feathers", Duck Soup", "A Night at the Opera", "A Day at the Races".

Much of the Monty Python works - both as a group + solo - are brilliant as well. Personal favorites: "Clockwise", "A Fish Called Wanda", "Brazil", "Holy Grail", "Life of Brian".

Even tho it's not high art or anything, I must admit to having a soft spot for "Strange Brew: the Adventures of Bob + Doug MacKenzie".

"Arsenic and Old Lace" is another classic - who knew Cary Grant had such good comedic chops?

"Some Like it Hot" - are you a musician on the run from the mob? Here's the blueprint on what to do - and if you play yer cards right, you might get to hang out with Marylin Monroe.

Much of the Zucker Brothers work was also pretty fun - "Airplane", "Naked Gun", "Hot Shots" - all had shining moments.

Back in the day, early Mel Brooks was the bomb - "The Producers", "Silent Movie", "Blazing Saddles" + "High Anxiety" are my personal faves.

"Midnight Run" - showing a comedic side to Robert DeNiro that was previously unsuspected at the time.

"Clerks" - Kevin Smith's finest hour. Period

the Coen Brothers tend to walk the line between comedy + strange, but they've made me fall out laughing with "the Hudsucker Proxy", "the Big Lebowski" and "Raising Arizona".

"the Party" - Peter Sellers may or may not be the most overrated comedic actor of his era, but this film was a brilliant example of what happens when you're the one guy no one knows at a big ol' bash. From the moment he walks in the door, it's a scream. You'll never use the guest bathroom again.

Sorry, but too many of today's movies will be long forgotten, although they're funny in the short run. On the other hand, look at such classic comedies as AIRPLANE!, BLAZING SADDLES, THE PARTY, BRINGING UP BABY, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, DUCK SOUP, or COCOANUTS.
