Definitely the numbers of one's wanna be friends would be proportional to one's bank account.

All my friends are the BEST and they go way back, before they even had bank accounts.
New friends, that's a different story. If they trully see you as a friend they will share themselves with you without having looked at your wallet. Otherwise, they are not friends, they are just aquaintances. My problem is, that ok so I don't flash my wallet in their eyes but where on the name of ET will I park my ship without it being noticed :-)

Not from what I've seen, but it probably depends on your definition of friends and the kind of people you hang out with.
The person i know with the most friends is a broke graduate student, but also is extraordinarily nice. Attitude trumps bank account, especially when it comes to making real, be-there-for-you-when-you-are-down friends. You can't buy that.

Money makes me nervous when it comes to friends.. the ppl who have want to buy friends, the ppl who dont, want ppl to buy them.... as for me, I have very few friends, by choice, because true friends are hard to find, so I nuture and love the ones I do have..... but I think there are a LOT of good ppl out there in the world.....
