i went through the same thing, i felt as though i could hurl becuase i was so nervous, and i went through this every game i played in, but as soon as i started playing that terrible feeling was gone and it is replaced with excitement and exhiliration, i really don't think there is a cure you just have to get the jitters out of you as soon as possible, it's all in your head, just think positive!!

I think its just the adrenaline talking. As for your nerves because of that,i feel you shouldnt look for a cure for such a thing...because you're human, and if you wernt able to feel the exhilaration of the moment that stood before you, what kind of life would that be?An exciting moment would be dull,so perhaps you should try to learn to appreciate it and try accepting it, not viewing it as a hinderance and a disease. Its one thing if you hated playing basketball, and got nervous because you didnt want to be out there and would rather be doing something else...but its another thing when you love the game, and feel pre-game jitters. The jitters are very natural and instinctual, and even your basketball idols feel the same way even though they make a career out of playing basketball.I felt the same way when i played, especially when i would go on the road(a traveling team)in the opponents gym,in a city ive never been to,with no one i knew...i would become so tense that i could barely function, and that resulted in me analyzing everything excessively to the point where i didnt play to my potential, snowballing.I think that is where superstitions play a part.
Do whatever it is that you have to do before a game to break the ice,and to light the fire.Gum,music,pre-game meals, the way you lace your sneakers, whatever. It might help if you had a strict cycle and regimen,so each game wouldnt appears as such a brand new task.Above all, just do your best, and the nerves should subside during the heat of the moments.Tell your teammates what you're going through so they can accommodate you accordingly.Im sure some of them feel the same way you do.Actually, nerves are an advantage because that means you are emotionally invested and passionate about what you are doing.

I would to. I get nervous preforming music on stage. But I normally use that to my advantage. The best thing to do is to fine a zone. You know the whole "I'm in my zone" deal. Throw on some headphones and listen to a favorite song of yours. Try to get comfortable with it. Then when you play a game get into that zone.

Just go with it. If you play well what's the problem? If you start to not play well, then I would say look into ways of "curing the disease"

Just relax, start enjoying the game more instead of worrying. Talk to people before the game to get your mind off things. And when you play, just have fun.

Same things happens to me. No disease, your perfectly fine. Its probably that you dont want to screw up and let your whole team down. I know I feel that way. But dont let lt get you, just do what you do and nothing will go wrong.

i was on my varsity basketball team in highschool. i know the feeling. everyone has their own thing tho. chewing gum really worked for me, i'd just bite down really hard on the gum every now and then just to get the stress and the nervous feeling out of me, and i'd be okay.

What's to be nervous about? All your doing is owning people at basketball. No big deal.
