Well it's possible we could damage the sun. Basically I see two ways, both of which would arise from Chernobyl type accidents.
1. If we started to mass produce anti-matter in sufficient quantities , stored in large enough quantities in one spot (since that stuff will create pure energy - particle for particle, if ever the containment vessels/magnetic bottle lost it. Well let's just say it wouldn't be pretty for everyone on the side of the solar system that stuff was stored on. When Star Trek folks start talking warp core breaches - this is what they're thinking of. Generally , without the scifi stuff, it's bad for you , bad for me....bad all around. If the storge facility / starship whatever was too close to the sun it could have a sheering/blast effect on the sun, which would have - unpredictable and potentially bad results.
2. Mini black holes, advanced particle physics experiments can create little mini black-holes which "evaporate" because they are so small but scientists or cults/terrorists might accidentially or intentionally create a mini black-hole which wasn't so mini and didn't evaporate. In that instance, bad things could happen for everything in the solar system - including the sun.

Considering he's a few centuries shy of creating a weapon that could destroy the Earth, I'd say a sun-killer would be a very long-term project.

Nothings impossible. I highly doubt that man will. The country that could make such a weapon would be the most powerful country in the world.
If man where able to make a weapon so powerful it could destroy the sun, then we would be seeing the end times happening. No sun=no life. Besides i dont think that God would allow such a disaster to happen because of man.

Uhhh, let's hope we don't, and if we do, we better not use it... Destroying the sun would'nt be one of the better ideas...

Probably not in our lifetime. Given another thousand years, who knows. Anything's possible.
