Screen sides are good, but you need to make sure you can keep the heat, as well as moisture in the screened in cage. Its easier to keep a tank humid, then it is to keep a cage. If you heat with forced hot air, or oil furnace your house will be pretty dry, so youll need to be extra careful to be able to keep up the moisture. I just built a gecko enclosure out of plywood, with a screen top for the lights to sit on. Its important to have airflow in the tank, so cages have advantages, but dissadvantages as well. Good luck. You can get some help on building reptile enclosure on reptileroom.com .
Good luck

Leopard geckos cannot climb up smooth surfaces like thier relatives can as they lack the sticky toes.
Glass is very good as it holds the heat in better and you won't have to worry about their toenails getting caught like they would in a screen cage. Also, the insects you feed your leopard gecko will not be able to climb the glass since it is too slippery for them too, so you wont have to worry about all the frightenend crickets hanging out up at the top corner of your cage away from the lizard. :)
Keep in mind that Leopard geckos do not typically drink from a water dish so you need to mist their cage since they drink the water droplets off the sides of the cage. If you had a fully screened cage, the water would get everywhere!

I no longer particular about the Leopard Gecko. yet i recognize that they could be able to many times climb smoothe surfaces. One website I regarded at reported: be particular to purchase a threat-free-setting up demonstrate precise. So per chance they could be able to get out. less than are some information superhighway sites for elevating and being concerned on your Gecko.

if i was you i will l choose to get a small cheaper tank to keep the geckos because its more safer for them to live in instead having it inside a screen tank . cause if you do get screen one will have youre geckos scape from it . you might lose youre pet around the house . and you dont want to have youre room smell stinky all the time . if you need any thing else like how to feed them you can ask me cause i have geckos for a pets too . well tty.

yes it dose matter because leopard geckos need heat even if they are nocturnal. they wont get the proper heat if the are in a screen cage.

From what I have read it does not make a difference if it is a wire cage or a glass tank, either way you will save a lot of money on your car insurance.

My mom raised leopard geckos and she always used glass. It's warmer of course and they like that.

so long as you keep temp and humidity at recommended levels both are fine. They're not like chameleons which NEED a mesh vivarium nor an uro which needs so much heat you might as well keep it in a Styrofoam box! (I'm exaggerating of course)
