I wanted a huge party for my birthday, because my other partys have been really boring. ( My party last year was a hike!) So, I really wanted a big party this year. My parents said that was fine, so I planned a huge party and told my friends about it, however a few days ago my mom cut my party buget in more then half! Do you think this is fair? I don't. It would be different if i haven't spent 2 MONTHS planning and told my friends about it! What do I do? Do you think it is fair???

She said that the reason she cut it in half was, and I quote "Because she said so"

NO! Your mother should have never cut the party budget by that much if she had known how important the party was to you, which is kinda obvious cuz you've been planning it for two months! She already told you that you could have the party, so it's kinda like making a promise and then breaking it. Maybe she has a good reason... If she does, at least you'll know that the money went to a better cause. Sort of. You can always have a better party next year, or use your own allowance. Good luck, and happy birthday!!!!!

Honestly i say this be lucky your parents can afford to let you have a big party! I am 22 years old i have kids of my own now! I understand how you feel but in the same sense i see the parent side now! My suggestion is sorry to be so mean stop being selfish and go get a job pay for your "big party" yourself! They pay for everything else! So yes it is fair living is expensive! You have no idea cause you arent on your own!

You don't tell us WHY the budget was cut in half.

If it's that or being homeless, no it isn't unfair. (Or some unexpected expense came up.)

Or if it's punishment for something you did that you knew you shouldn't have.

Did you know what budget she had in mind for you?

Are you being extravagant? You can have a lot of friends over, and have a great time, without spending a fortune.

It's a shame the two of you didn't work together to plan it so you'd both know what was going on (she'd know what you were planning, you'd know the budget).

Alter your plans. Do it cheaper. Get your mom's advice on where you can cut costs.

Yes it is fair. You don't need a lot of money to have a great party. Let that creative side of you come out and you'll be surprised at how much of a good time you'll have.

I dont think its that fair because you've never had a big party and at the last minute the ruined it..

maybe your parents are going through some financial difficulties right now; maybe that can't really afford the party at all but still going through with it for your sake -- just can't do the whole amount.

yes, its unfortunate but make the best of it.

I think the budget should have been discussed before the planning.

I think your mom is just upset that your avatar's mouth is open all the time. Be quite and listen to her for a change.
