Where would 70% of the public get this idea?
Does repeatedly implying a connection, contribute to the American public believing a connection in fact existed?
So, even if someone doesn't explicitly say there was a connection, but in every press conference, press briefing, interview of every member of the administration, they somehow manage to mention Iraq when speaking of 9-11, it is so unreasonable for the majority of Americans to presume they are saying a connection existed?
Is it disingenuous to state the Bush administration never connected Iraq to 9-11?

IF there was "plenty of evidence to support it" then why did the President say "We have no evidence Saddam was involved."

Why blame the media? EVERY high profile person in the administration repeated Iraq and 9-11 in the same speechs, interviews, and press conferences in televised events. These things were live. I didn't hear any dubbing. These were their words. How can you blame C-Span for simply televising someone's words?

You partially answered the question already... repeatedly implying a connection....
There is one flaw.. he didn't just imply, he actually stated falsehoods in his 2002's state of the union speech. IE, yellow cake, etc...
There is also the fact that the human Psyche appears to hold on to 'things they hear' as fact when those things come from leadership. I'm saying we tend to not like it to feel we have to question leadership and not trust them... we, in our core, HOPE we can and really do want to trust them.
The bottom line is that America got 'played' so that a madman, Bush, could get his war of choice. Not the war we wanted... the war against Al Quaida and B. Laden but the one he wanted.

in spite of the undeniable fact that that became initially between the excuses, the Bush administration has considering the fact that admitted that NO connection existed between Saddam and bin Ladin/al-Qa'ida. Saddam actual concept UBL/AQ have been a greater robust hazard than u.s. and large Britain. in spite of the undeniable fact that, that doesn't end some from ignoring the data. truthfully, i could estimate a large style of the lesser counseled nevertheless believe we had some justification. the surprising tree: WMD, a reference to UBL/AQ, and direct involvement in 9/11 have all been shown fake. The final, Saddam became a 'undesirable' guy, became authentic; although, what proportion undesirable adult males are in value of international locations? Addition: on no account ought to my comments above be construed as contempt for infantrymen deployed to Iraq. The overwhelming majority are doing their interest the terrific way they comprehend the thank you to do it with honor and dignity. help the troops, yet oppose the excuses they have been sent.

There was a connection but the only reason that Iraq was a high priority target was to institute a regime change that has been planned since Bush 41 was in office.
Personally I am glad that Saddam is gone and I don't really care if they carpet bomb the whole country of Iraq (except for the Kerds) but just don't pretend that it was for some reason other than what it was.

Not being part of the 70% (where did you get that number, btw?), I don't have any idea.
I turned off my tv after 9-11, for many reasons.
Maybe instead of blaming Republicans, you should cast an eye to the media. Just a thought.
You can not truly be that naive. The media has total control of what they air and how much they show.
People chose to make a connection.

What's even more startling is the percentage of Faux viewers who still believe it. I heard something like 70% - and this was recently.
