No, sex is a means of reproduction/replication in sexually reproducing organisms. The " red queen theory " posits the sexual reproduction is the genomes method of staying one step ahead of our parasites. We are a social animal and we are evolved to interact with con-specifics, along a continuum of behavior, under a normal curve of distribution. A biological way of saying, " it takes all kinds. Yes it is. And of course we are! The survival of the species depends on our skill and ability to have a connection, however brief, with a person of the opposite sex. Where would we be if our attitude was "Oh well, I suppose I could have sex, I haven't got anything better to do and The Price Is Right isn't on for half an hour yet" instead of the drive we have to "do the deed". Those who are genetically pre-dosposed to not bother are naturally selected out of existence!

For women, maybe. But for men it's mostly a release of sexual tension. However, if the man is in love with the woman he's with, then it may be a means of connecting for him too. Are we wired to seek connection? Once again, I think that this is mostly the case for women because we're extremely cerebral. Men are mostly physical, but there are exceptions to every rule.

although sex and love are related by most as one in the same,they are not. sex is a primordial instinct that is meant solely to keep our species going. sex is , primordial speaking, survival. example, you meet someone and almost instantly feel your in love. mad passionate affair ensues. can't to be apart. its love. 2 weeks 2 months (time varies) pass and the thrill is gone. you can't stand to be in the company of this individual. that doesn't matter, chances are there was consensual sex and potential conception. biological mission complete. love mission, a bust.... t. turner "WHATS LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT???earth,wind, and fire "absolutely nothing".... feramfem1

Sex is a means of connecting if there is meaningful relationship already. If not it can be disastrous causing long term stress and death.
