I'm 16 and love playing football but this season i have started having strange feelings for some of my team mate, not all just a few. I have had a girlfriend but we never did anything sexual just hung around.
I have been told that this will pass and it's just a part of growing up and I'ts all just a bit of fun.
I have my shower last now as i dont want to see my mates naked as I'm scared they will know, please help

Well, you can be gay and love to play sports. I love playing sports. Don't worry about what other people say to you, just be yourself. You will not be happy trying to impress someone else, or being someone else. To answer your question, you are a person, and you should be the most important person to you. Good luck!

Playing football has nothing to do with being gay. Ed Gallagher, Corey Johnson, Dave Kopay, Roy Simmons, Jerry Smith, & Esera Tuaolo were all gay football players (and if you mean football outside the US, Justin Fashanu & Hidetoshi Nakata were also gay).

If you had a girlfriend but never did anything sexual, is that because you were not sexually attracted to her and liked her more as a good friend? If you take your shower last, is it because you would look at them naked and be afraid of getting caught looking?

It might pass if you are curious, but you could also be genuinely attracted to them sexually. Sexual attractions are relatively new to you, so just take some time and let whoever you may be attracted to just happen and don't force it one way or the other.

That's sweet. They will know if you have an erection, you mean? Not necessarily. You're just being self-conscious. You can always make up a story about some chick you can't get out of your mind! I know some of them are probably hard to take your eyes off of, but the same rule applies to guys as to girls: keep your eyes on their eyes, not "down there". That will also let you see who might also be checking you out.

Playing sports isn't a factor either way. Getting turned on by beefy guys is, though. Whether you're just gay or bisexual (I hate labels) only time will tell, since this is all new to you (and normal for your age). My rule of thumb is, who do you notice first in a room full of people, the boys or the girls? If a couple walks toward you, do you check out the guy or the gal first (or one not at all!)?

Can't help you on what to do next, guy. Go slow. Make lots of friends. Some of them are bound to be gay, too.

Hey there. Ya know what? I'm a big gearhead (I love working on cars and Jeeps) and I'm gay. Liking sports, sexuality, fast cars, whatever.....None of these things can singularly define a person. take it slow, watch for the guy that glances down to your shorts, or holds his gaze for just a BIT too long when looking at you. He could be having the same ideas as you. It's ok to experiment with others, whether they are guys or girls. That's part of growing up and DISCOVERING who you are. Just play safely. Use a condom for anal or vaginal sex. Whether or not it PASSES is yet to be seen, as it doesn't seem as if you have done anything yet. But that's ok..........just take it easy. You'll know soon if you don't already. Good Luck, Rob

About the shower thing. Try masturbating before football practice to keep from getting a "woody" in the showers. Besides, it's fun to look at the other guys isn't it? :)

Whether or not you're gay is something that will reveal itself in time. Were/are you attracted to your girlfriend and other girls? If you do have sexual feelings toward girls, you may be bisexual. There are many heterosexual men that experience attraction to another man at some time in their lives (although most wouldn't admit it). Either way, it shouldn't have any effect on your love of sports! You should keep doing what you love (football) and feel out the situation a little bit more to uncover your true feelings. If the shower situation is uncomfortable just do what feels comfortable to you, even if that means waiting to be last each time.

If you are gay, and are attracted to a few of your teammates, don't stress out too much about it or alienate yourself. Lots of people work with people they are attracted to on a day to day basis, but it doesn't mean that they have to act on their feelings or that they should be ashamed.

Take your time in figuring out who you are... you don't have to rush into a sexual identity. It's best that you take the time to explore your true feelings before you assign yourself to be 'gay' or 'straight' for the rest of your life.

There are over 2,000 guys in the NFL. Do you honestly believe they are all straight?

Pfft!! Id say at LEAST 100-150 are gay.

and there are a couple players who came out after retirement.

Playing sports has nothing to do with being gay. In fact, I think its hot. I am only attracted to Masculine, Athletic gay guys.

A gay sport. You should try going with someone of your own sex. To see if you like it. Better avoid your team mates though.
Good luck

It is not unusual for gays to like sports, but depending on how strongthese feelings for your teammates get, continue taking your shower last since you might be realizing that you are gay
