first of all, Garnett deserves it more than Duncan so you don't take the better forwards spot
and McGrady shouldn't start but his spot should go to AI. nash never starts because no one wants to see him and he doesn't belong in the game. Last year nash had 2 points and 6 assists with 3 TO. AI is entertainment and was hurt by switching conferences and is a multiple all star MVP.
Atleast yao doesn't have another undeserved start this year, too bad it took an injury to get it

No way. Garnett is having a great year, carrying that team on his back with a chance for the playoffs. McGrady is a bit more questionable, but has stepped up in the absence of the China man. Besides, his dunks are fantastic! Nash and Dirk are boring in an allstar game.

no- becuase the point of the all star game is that the fans get to vote for who they want to see. The fans voted for Mcgrady and Garnett. Yes, it is a popularity contest, but Mcgrady and Garnett earned it. Nash and Dirk will still be on the team as reserves and get plenty of PT.

For all you idiots that say Nash is boring, doesn't work hard enough, doesn't make exciting plays, and doesn't deserve it, are all out of your d*mn minds. Nash is going for his 3rd, I repeat 3rd MVP title, runs the fastest paced offense in the league, and makes slightly above average players look like all-stars. Think what he could do with a whole team of all-stars. If you have ever had the privilege of watching a Suns game, you would see that Nash creates the most exciting plays in the league. That's why most of the T.V. analysts say that the Suns are the most exciting team to watch in all sports. I know that it's hard for all you ignorant people to read stuff like that, but it's all there. Now, to answer the question, NO. The fans get to vote and that's who they voted for. Do I agree with who they voted for? No. But hey, that's how it is. If I were a Suns or Mavs fan, I wouldn't mind if they didn't play at all. It's a pointless game that has no baring on the chase for the championship. Stars like Nash and Dirk could use the rest. Please try to refrain from making ignorant comments in the future. Thanks.

I think so, First of all Steve Nash is to most explosive player in the NBA, also the game just gets put on a higher level when he steps on the court, he has the craziest passes and is just good. I also think Dirk should be starting because his team is doing better than Garnett's. And Garnett got into the fight and should be forced to give it up to Dirk.

no.
they both (tmac n KG) earned their spots with the fans. if nash and dirk step in and play, we would lose some respect for them, since they didnt win with the fans like the rest of the players. it would seem like an act of desperation and lack of respect on their behalf. and the 2 players offering would seem to do so in pity, no matter what they say. then again tmac may say that he wants nash to play, but he realy just wont admit that his damn back is killing him and he needs to retire and go away.
i would really have loved for steve nash to have been a starter, but everyone pretty much knows he and dirk WILL be elected as reserves. i think tmac should start the game and then have nash come in first chance he gets and takeover with his killer MVP game :)
overall, regardless of stats, whoever is elected to play should play, unless they truely cant (YAO). thats the whole point of the fans and fan voting.

Ya i agree Nash and Dirk both led there teams to the 2 best records in the NBA-- but why would they do it? they feel like im an all star starter the fans voted me in. Its not my fault its the fans.--- They should have like another way for the guyz to get in. Dirk and Nash should have been starters but theyll likely still make the team so they still will get some playin time

Beside LeBron, these 2 are the leading candidates for MVP, but they don't start in the all-star game? Your absolutely right that they should, out of respect, give up the position. Same goes for Shaq. If he starts, I might lose a little respect for the guy.

Only if Shaq, who got voted a starter based on ZERO games played, gives up not only his start but also his roster spot to someone who actually played this year. Popularity trumps all in this game.

If they gave up the starting position it is as if they didn't respect the fans whom voted for them.
All-Star game is a fan-appreciation game.
