multiply the brackets first
2(n-7)+3=9
2n-14+3=9

then take the numbers to one side and the letters to the other side

2n=9-3+14

I think you can take it from here

Multiply 2 by n, then 2 by negative 7. Then add three; you would end up with: 2n-14+3=9. Then you add the negative 14 and the three together, and you get negative 11. So now you have:
2n-11=9. Now you need to bring the negative 11 over to the 9's side, and since you are switching sides, you have to change the 11 from a negative to a positive. That means you add the 11 and the 9; now you end up with: 2n=20. Now you have to divide both sides by 2, which cancels out the 2 on the left side, and 20 divided by 2 leaves you with 10 on the right side. The answer is: n=10

First...Distribute the multiplying 2

2(n-7)+3=9 becomes:

2n - 2(7) + 3 = 9

2n -14 +3 = 9

Then add the common digits (meaning the whole numbers)
(Remember that the 14 is actually negative)

2n - 11 = 9

Then move the -11 to the other side of the equation by adding 11 to each side

2n -11 ( + 11) = 9 ( + 11)

2n = 20

Then you divide by 2 on each side to get the n alone

2n/2 = 20/2

Simplify...

n = 10

WHEN YOU ARE DONE...GO BACK AND SUBSTITUTE THE N FOR 10 TO MAKE SURE IT WORKS

2(10 - 7) + 3 = 9

Remember to do the parentheses first...

2(3) + 3 = 9

Then you multiply

6 + 3 = 9

9 = 9

Follow B-E-D-M-A-S. Brackets, exponents, division, multiplication, addition, and subtraction. First use the distributive law which means times everything in the bracket by 2. 2(n-7) + 3 = 9. So it will equal 2n -14 + 3 = 9. Then add. 2n - 11 = 9 (-14 + 3 = -11). Then isolate the unknown. To get rid of the -11 we have to add 11. If we do it to one side, we have to do the same to the other. So in the end we get, 2n = 20 ( 9 + 11 = 20). Then to get n by itself, we divide both sides by 2. Which means n = 10. I hope this isn't confusing.

2(n-7) + 3 = 9
First you use the F.O.I.L. method
Multiply 2 times n and 2 times -7
then you have 2n-14 +3 = 9
then you add -14 + 3
then you have 2n -11 = 9
then you get the variable by itself by adding 11 to both sides
like 2n - 11 + 11 = 9 + 11
then you have 2n = 20
then you get the variable by itself by dividing both sides by 2
like 2n/2 = 20/2
which leaves you with n=10
thats the answer and if you put it back into the equation you will see that it is true.
2(10 -7) + 3 = 9
2(3) +3 =9
6 +3 = 9
9=9

Ok, first of all, you're solving for "n" right? If that is the case, you would have to start by subtracting the 3 from both sides. Your equation after doing this operation would look like 2(n-7)=6. The next step would be to divide both sides by two, since you are trying to isolate "n". Your new equation would be n-7=4.5. The last step is to add the seven over, and then you are done! Your final answer would be n=11.5. Just remember - add or subtract first, divide next if needed, and finally work with what is in the parenthesis.

2(n-7) + 3 = 9

First distribute 2 (n-7)

2n - 14 + 3 = 9

Simplify the left hand side of the equation -14 + 3 -> -11

2n - 11 = 9

Need n on one side and numerals on the other. So Add 11 to both sides

2n - 11 + 11 = 9 + 11
2n = 20

Now divide both sides by 2

n = 10

2(n-7)+3=9
move 3 to the right by subtracting.
=2(n-7)=9-3
which equals
2(n-7)= 6
now you divide by two on both sides which cancel the one of the left and changes the 6 to a 3.
(n-7)=3
now you add seven on both sides.
n-7+7=3+7
which equals
n=10

"PEMDAS" (aka the Order of Operations)
Parenthesis "( )"
Exponents " ^ "
Multiply/Divide "* or /"
Add/Subtract "+ or -"

in this case: 2*(n-7) + 3 = 9

P - equation in Parenthesis ais simplified
E - There are no Exponents
M/D - Multiply 2(n-7).
A/S - After you multiply, Add/Subtract similar terms.

Your equation at this time should be : 2n -11 = 9
If this does not match, go through your equation and check your work.

The next step is to isolate the variable. Add/Subtract a number to both sides of the equation so the variable (in this case, 2n) is alone on one side of the equation.

Divide both sides by the factor in front of the variable (in this case, 2) and you should get the answer of n = 10.

first distribute 2(n-7) so it would be 2n-14+3=9. then you would subtract 3 from both sides so the 3 on the left would cancel out and 9-3=6 so it would be 2n-14=6. then you would add 14 to both sides so it would be 2n=20 and n=? you said you didnt want the answer
