About 8 minutes. This is the time required for light from the Sun to reach Earth.
(93 million miles/186000 miles /second = 500 seconds /60 sec/min= 8 min 20 sec)

About eight and a half minutes. The effects of the Sun blowing up are not faster than the speed of light. So yes, we would see it.

As my physics teacher reminded us once a week. If the sun were to blow up we would have roughly 8 minutes to do what ever we wanted to void of consequence. But... We would not know that till it was too late. So ah well.

The sun is roughly 8.5 light-minutes away, so it would take that long for us to see it.

We would live to see it though, because the damaging effects of the explosion could not be going any faster than light.

It would take about 8 and a half minutes (approximately).
We would live to see it explode, but unfortunately not for very long thereafter.
