I have no energy during the day at school. When we take notes in class, I just can't seem to make myself write them down because I am so tired and lifeless. All it seems like I want to do during school is sleep. How can I be more awake, alert, and energized during the day?

Diet and exercising are important.

Don't take a very heavy and oily breakfast in the morning, it will make you lethargic. It's best to take fruits and cereals for breakfast.

Exercise before breakfast. Do running, cycling or best do Yoga.

Try avoiding caffeine in the morning. It will stimulate you temporarily but will make you slow once it's effect wears out.

Eat an apple, I saw it on discovery channel that an apple does as good a job at keeping you awake as a cup of coffee!

Implement these measures, you'll run like a rocket throughout the day!

Eat good, healthy meals. And definitely get some exercise! You don't have to work out in the gym for hours, but try and get 30-45 minutes of exercise every day. A brisk walk, jogging, and swimming are good ways to exercise. Try and avoid eating too many sweets if you can, since they give you a quick lift, but once that wears off, you will feel tired.

I had the same symptons no matter if I slept 12 or 14 hours. After falling asleep at the wheel several times, nobody hurt, I went for a sleep test and found out I had sleep apnea. My CPAP machine is a life saver.

Cut down on sugars, carbohydrates and sodas if you have those. Also, when you wake up, do you feel awake? Try getting up when you feel awake, even if it is early. That is the best time during your sleep rhythm to awaken.

Might want to get checked for diabetes and have other blood tests run also.

Try going to bed on a set time and waking up at a set time. Your body will become use to it. I would also look into taking some vitamins. If none of this works you might need to see a doctor about your problem. Sometimes feeling this way is a sign of a health problem. Good luck to you.

I have the same problem and I just can't seem to stay awake, I think the best thing to do is drink coffee in the morning, or go to bed earlier.

•P.S. : Coffee really helped me.

Start with regular exercise... if this doesn't work go to your doctor. He will check for signs of depression, thyroid problems, anemia possibly, etc.
