I've got a 3.0 GPA in my second year of college...and from my understanding that's pretty bad for going for Pharmacy. After all, Pharmacy isn't something I necessarily have a real passion for, but I understand that job placement and the salary are awesome. So should I go for a different major or retake some of my previous classes to up the grades? Also, is Pharmacy worth pursuing?

GIve it up. A 3.0 is tough, but not out of the question. However, you say you just want it for the salary.

You seriously need a passion for it. You have to want to do it. Why? Because most people find it INCREDIBLY boring and tedious.

Try working at a pharmacy. Part time, volunteer, whatever. Do a full 8 hour shift of it. My sister tried it. She was out of there in 2 weeks. Bored out of her mind. It's a great job if you like it, but it really isn't for everyone.

As a current pre-pharmacy student, I would have to agree with Meggie - salary and job placement mean nothing if you do not think you will enjoy what you be doing almost every day for the rest of your life - I would think long and hard before making any decisions though. Have you thought about being a teacher or professor? You are already on a the track to a future as a biology major, which could be applied in many different ways if pharmacy doesn't work out...

Right now I am a pre-pharmacy major and in my second semester. I know a lot of people who retake classes to bring up their GPA so they can get into pharmacy school, so if you want to get in you can try that. I don't think a 3.0 is good enough, they tell us you have to have a 3.5.

If you have to ask yourself if it's worth it, it might not be. Being a pharmacist is probably not an ultra-fulfilling job for many people, but as you stated the pay is nice. Don't do it just for the money, or later you may find yourself trapped in a career you hate. I know it sounds corny, but go for something you really care about, even if it doesn't pay a crap load of money. You may want to take an aptitude test to see what you would be good at! Good luck!

Your GPA needs to be a bit higher. You need to be closer to a 3.5 GPA.
However, if you don't like pharmacy, don't pursue the degree. The PharmD is a hard degree.
