As I was watching the 2007 State of the Union, I noticed there were many women in red. I just finished watching the 2002 State of the Union and once again there were a considerable amount of women in red (including the First Lady). Is there some tradition or formaility driving the Congresswomen to wear read or do they just want to be seen amoungst the sea of dark suits?

No-I don't think that it is a coincidence.

Usually when people wear red, it is a symbol of power. It would make sense that the female politicians, who are fewer in number and tend to have less political clout than their male counterparts, would want to project an aura of power and confidence.

no red goes with the room and carpet better then say blue or poka dot lol Anyone get a count on how many times Palosi blicked? It had to be some kind of a record. Wonder if it meant she was nervous or just a twitch.

Red is both a power color, and very appearling and flattering a wide variety of women. It's also a good color for cold seasons, fashion-wise.
