When a certain group of people is singled out. Althought I strongly am against rasism, ponder this...

In America, why is it that it would be socially acceptable to have a "Black Students of America" for instance but outragious to have a Caucasian student group? Doesn't that seem racisit?

My good friend applied to a scholarship program but was denied, not because he was underqualitied, but becaues he wasn't Islamic.Since my friend happened to be Caucasian, however, this act of racism went unnoticed.

Foxy said the classic response first, Tirac made a good point of the fact that racism can be reversed to be unfair to white people.
As for me, I am one of those people who attempts to think of people as individuals.
Today an example:
I stopped at a shop to get a bit of ready cooked lunch. The lady behind the counter was really nice and helpful. Much nicer than anyone had ever been in that shop.
A bit later I was walking to my car and saw her on break smoking a ciggie.
We started talking and soon she began to talk about her life. Working full time, raising three grandchildren because her daughter had fallen in a bad crowd and was in jail.
And so on. It so happened she was black. Her daughter was living a chav stereotype of sorts, but the mother was living as good a life as any.
Point is, I can not hold any racist attitudes because as in one family, one person may be an upright person, another a criminal.
I am willing to be friendly to all who are friendly to me, and view others as being as human as I am, without labels. That lady was a quality of human I would look for in a friend.

Racism is the belief that people's qualities are influenced by their race and that the members of other races are not as good as the members of your own. It has nothing to do with loving your family and friends, it has to do with feeling negatively about others. Most racists aren't pro-genocide either, they just tend to be normal people who are ignorant and often not very well travelled.
