Obligate anaerobes use anaerobic cellular respiration (requires a non-O2 electron acceptor) AND fermentation.

As an endospore, a bacterium is in a dormant, more protected state (some bactera will convert to this dormant state under very harsh conditions). They are also in a more dehydrated form (endospores may form when *water* is scarce in the environment).
