I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I went to renew my driver’s license last week and was told that I couldn't. When I asked why they told me I had an outstanding traffic ticket from 1995 for $66 so the city put a hold on my license. I don't have a problem with the money. But I do have a problem with the age of the ticket. I'm sure I paid it but can't recall. Even if I did pay it I couldn’t possible prove it. There must be a statute of limitation regarding old unpaid fines. If it were 12 months old I could understand but 12 years is ridiculous. I will probably just pay but would like to know if anyone has had or heard of a similar situation. Thanks.

Just another scam by the government to take more money form the working class citizens if you ask me. Taxes off your cheque, taxes paid at income tax time, tax on items bought....it gets quite annoying after awhile.

ANYWAYS....I would think since they decide whether you get a license or not, they will force you to pay no matter what
