You're absolutely right. There seems to be a "got to win" mentality there, and people often do overbid. As a seller, I love this! As a buyer, it's a pain.

Yeah. A lot of people set a limit of how much they are willing to spend before they start bidding, and as they are outbid that limit goes up.
