I don't know much about fixing cars, but I can typically do something easy. Anybody know what this could be, or how difficult it would be to fix on my own?

its probabably the thermostat.no you should be able to change it yourself.its not too hard.just drain some of the anti-freeze out and then take out 2 bolts in the thermostat housing and remove the thermostat.clean both the housing and intake.put on a new gasket and make sure the spring of the thermostat goes in the intake and put the housing on the intake, and tighten the bolts.dont overtighten them, cause you could break the housing.refill the radiator and start the car and check for leaks.

hey, i may can help you, but i need more to go on. What is it doing/not doing? Is it intermittently heating and getting cold? If that's the issue, you're low on anti-freeze. If it's not low on antifreeze, and it's not getting hot, it may be the thermostat. There are several things that it could be.

look at your temp gauge. is it at normal ,or on the cool side . if its on the cool side even after its been running awhile, your thermostat ma be stuck open, not allowing water to heat to the proper temp. you could also have a heater core plugged up.
