From how far can a person see the smoke/ash cloud of a volcano?

It would depend on many things. Most importantly how high up the ash was blown from the eruption - the higher up it is the further away you'll be able to see it. Also weather conditions could obscure the view. It is possible that you could see the cloud from hundreds of miles away. Also, winds will blow the ash in the atmosphere and it will eventually be pushed all around the globe. So technically you can see it from anywhere on earth if it's a big enough eruption. I'm sorry but there is no exact figure that I or anyone else should be able to give you.

I don't think you can answer that, because it depends on the size of the volcano. When Pinatubo blew in the Phillipenes back in the early '90s, it made the sunsets deep red in California the next month. Some major volcanoes have lowered the temperature of the whole globe.
