Well if you have knowledge of say, business (just an example) then you can turn that into money. Knowing how something works is ultimately more advantageous than not knowing because of the edge it gives you in the working world. Of course, knowledge on its own isn't much good without experience! But becoming specialised at something is what makes people sought after :) So I would say well applied knowledge can be as powerful as money.

The answer without question is that it depends upon the definition of "power." An idiot in, let's say, some modern society, can find a basket of cash on a street corner and live a very rewarding life commanding "power" to accomplish those things he wants and desires, and the "power" to get people to accomodate and yield to his will because of thier respect for, and want of, that cash. This is because cash - money - has its own intrinsic "power" to control men because of what we - as a society - agree that money can be exchanged for, such as food, shelter, comfort, etc. Money is "power", therefore, when the money means more than the just the paper it is printed on and can support, sustain or improve my situation. So, if I am a restaurant owner, I will wait on and cater to the guy who found the cash - I don't care about the "knowledge" of the PhD Marine Biologist who wants a meal who knows all about the ocean, but can't pay for dinner.
However, if I am lost at sea, or stranded on a deserted island, or about to be attacked by a shark and want to avoid that tragedy, money has no "power" to fix my situation. Money, in these situations, is no more valuable than paper. Paper won't teach me what I can eat from the ocean, or how to find fresh water, or how to convince the shark not to eat me. In this situation, the Marine Biologist - the knowledge - has the "power."
Of course, there are rare amusing situations when both money and knowledge are truly equal in thier "power." I you were going to freeze to death on a cold winter night and there was a survivalist who knew how to start a fire but the only thing to burn was the cash in your wallet, they are both truly equal in thier "power."

They are both kinds of power. But I think without knowledge, money quickly evaporates. Whereas you can make money with the right kind of knowledge. So knowledge is a stronger power.

without the knowledge to put money to use to make more you shall wither on the vine. You would have to be something like a billionaire to make it through this world unhurt and have plenty more to burn constantly without the knowledge to put your money to use.
money is power. there is no doubt.
but knowledge is much greater than power.
power in this world is the ability to influence other people (ie money).
truly powerful people have knowledge as thier main asset and dont worry so much about the money in quantity as they keep thier eyes on staying productively ahead of the curb and the rest of the world so far behind them.
a billionaire may be powerful temporarily. but is an anomoly.
a real powerful person has money and the dangerous knowledge to stay powerful.
you could be the wisest man that ever lived and stay a knowledgeable monk devoid in your life of money for all but the barest of necessities. this could not be considered power as it is without regard to other people.

I can answer this one from personal experience. I am a perfect example.
I have written some of the movies and television shows that are most popular and have made TONS of money.
You won't find my name in the credits nor did I receive a paycheck. This would be my own fault due to how I get my movies on the market. I am a screen writer as a hobby, as a form of stress release and art work. I have a real job. Not about to move to Hollywood and sleep with Producers.
So here is what I have learned. Many people have made a lot of money off of my projects and have learned my name and have witnessed my behavior on more than one occasion.
I have came to realize in the past few years, I don't have that money, but I have been able to take on Large Production Companies (News Corporation and Viacom) and with the knowledge that I have gained about the inner workings of Hollywood and the fact that I have achieved a status of respect, I have been able to cause them to have to bend to my will at times.
I haven't bothered to force them to pay me since I knowingly worked THROUGH other people to get the work on the market as a form of sharing my artwork.
But I can basically call up some of the television shows that have benefited from me and I can tell them, "I am killing off a character. I am inviting a guest on to your show. I am doing yadda." and even when others argue with me, I have the knowledge to over ride those who are making the money off of the show.
I know that is a strange example. But it has shown me that although money would give the appearance of power and although one would think that with money perhaps they could buy the knowledge... in reality, it doesn't seem to work that way.
Having the knowledge truly has given me a power that even the most paid Producers, Actors, Actresses, and Network Executives just cannot over ride my decisions. They do over course go away and lick their wounds in their hot tub or their expensive home or expensive island that they bought with the money they made off of me.
It only makes me a smidgen of jealous because it would appear to me to get that kind of money, you really have to "dig in" and "fight" for it.

Knowledge as well as money are powers one could ever have. But, between equal beings, he could use his knowledge to acquire great treasures (money, power).Money can be lost but knowledge stays forever.if the person loses his money he loses power as well. But if a person has knowledge he will not lost anything but gain everything.

Power is not a one word reality. Knowledge, money, the Will of people, landed property, ownership of the means production and much more may constitute the reality for being a powerful person. 'Power' is also used as word to describe the potential effects of an inanimate object or machine as a mathematical relation of mass, distance and time for a thing having quality of motion or a conceptualized reaction from it expressed in quantities of energy measured in its potential to move a quantity of material measured in power units representing the its relations to mass, distance and time.

The only power is power over yourself, and thats a LOT of power. The power of a human being is transcendent. Knowledge is the soil but it must be fertilized with compassion to grow the seed of power.
